Our Annual Congregational Meeting is two weeks away. This will be an important event for our church as we will elect those who will form the leadership for the next three years.

In order to help you decide who to vote for in the elections, the CVs of all 27 candidates have been posted on the notice board at our church entrance. Of these, there are four who are new candidates for deaconship. As they may be unfamiliar to many in the congregation, we are introducing them through what they have written about themselves below. Please pray for them.

Every Singaporean male serves the nation through National Service for 2 years of his life. Likewise, would it be also necessary for a Christian that he gives 3 years of his life to serve the Church in the Session? It is with this mindset that I put myself forward for the church’s consideration.

Jesus said, Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee (Matthew 9:2). I thank God for His love for me while I was yet a sinner He died for me.  In my Christian walk, He continues to forgive my sins (1 John 1:9) and assures me of His love (Jeremiah 31:3).

I am currently a committee member of the Migrant Workers Ministry, Men’s Fellowship and Golden age Fellowship. I look forward to devote my resources and time to serve Jesus through the church.

“Choose you this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” What is my life verse, I suppose it is Joshua 24:15. It is short, simple, direct, yet thought provoking. This has been my recurring verse since young. Galilee BP Church was where I grew up, regularly provided logistics support during my youth days such as weekly church bulletin sorting, setting up tables/chairs for weekly Sunday lunch fellowship, then keeping them of course. Not forgetting church cleaning, Easter Sunrise, choir, carolling, camps and camp fires. My weekends will be for Youth Fellowship, stepping up to Ex-Co in 1991 as treasurer, then secretary in 1992, Chairman from 1993-94 for two years before going off for national service till end 1997.

I started worshiping at Life BP in 2000, transferred my membership in 2003 to Life Church. Started serving in LCC (Life’s Children’s Club) in 2010 as teacher, and song leader with the guitar. Some will remember me as the bus captain facilitating and helping in 2010 church camp to Awana. In the same year, I started to support our annual VBS logistics, gradually to HOD in 2012/13 working with our fantastic group of diligently cheerful volunteers, providing logistics needs for teachers, food and beverage departments. Just last year in 2013, I’ve helped LCC to publish a booklet with photos, events and write-ups from our beloved LCC leader, distributed during the Sunday worship, together when our LCC youths song item “Because He lives”. Started night ERBL lectures in 2010, desiring to be rooted deeper in God’s Word and doctrines, applying and imparting in LCC to the children.

I’m happily married to Amy, blessed with two energetic boys Samuel (10) and Isaac (7). We worship every Sunday with our parents (and my two sisters and uncle) with Amy’s dad at the Chinese Service, from 9.30 am Sunday school   onward. My day job is with Citibank, supporting the technology on mainframe platform infrastructure as senior systems manager, with teams in Singapore, China and India for projects.

Thanks to Christ for his provision, conviction that I should not remain passive but instead active in his service, supporting not only the Church but also to the congregation. I am reminded from 1 Samuel 12:23 and Ecclesiastes 12:1, “God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you”, “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth”, giving of the strength of our youth, even as I’m constantly brought to remembrance that I am saved to serve. Indeed, to God be the glory for all the great things He has done.

I attended Life BP Church in 1994 through my wife Rachel.

I was baptized in 1998. In the same year, I was invited to join Thomson NBC. It has been gratifying through NBC to fellowship and learn God’s Word, and build the Body of Christ together.

In 2003, I joined the Men’s Fellowship (MF) as Treasurer, and in 2009 as Vice-chairman. We have various activities and ministries in MF, including Sunday School, monthly meetings, prayer meetings, visitations, outings, etc. I would like to encourage and invite all the Men in Church to come and participate in our activities. I trust you will be blessed through the fellowship, and also learn more of God’s Word and your purpose in God’s given life.

Since 2010, I participated in the Church’s door-to-door evangelism ministry. Presently, a group of us go to Yishun on the first Sunday of every month bringing the gospel door to door. Many a time, we encounter rejection but are not discouraged because we find joy in sharing the gospel with the unsaved, and to bring as many as harvested into God’s Kingdom.

I am married to Rachel and am blessed with two wonderful boys Matthew and Manuel. We worship together every Sunday at the 10.45am service.

My life verse is Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” God is sovereign. Every event in my life is orchestrated by Him. I know that God is working all things together for good to them that love Him. Therefore, whatever circumstances I am in, be it joys or trials of life, I trust God and submit everything to Him according to His Will.

Thank God for His grace and providence in my life. I know that I am saved to serve Him. It is a privilege to be able to serve our Church and congregation, and together build the Body of Christ.

To God be the Glory!

Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” is my life verse. I started worshipping in Life B-P Church since 2001 and was later baptised in Life B-P Church on 20 October 2002. Shortly after, I went to the UK for my studies. While attending New Life B-P Church in London, it was this verse that further prompted me to serve the Lord using whatever talents I am bestowed with and to serve Him willingly and cheerfully. Understanding what Christ has done for me (and us) and being so merciful to us, I realised that my service to the Lord is the bare minimum I can do to repay Him. As such, I dedicated some time and effort in preparing the church weekly, setting up the PA system, preparing and cleaning up before and after fellowship lunch, as well as welcoming worshippers during Lord’s Day.

In 2008, I returned to Life B-P Church and joined the Young Adults Fellowship (YAF), helping out in the administrative and logistical stuff (including serving as Transport & Logistics IC for YAF Retreat 2010) as well as chairing some of the YAF meetings. I was given an opportunity to go for a mission trip in January 2010 to Kenya when I visited our missionary June Tan and the local community. Since 2010, I started serving in the Church Camp committee in the area of Transport & Logistics as well as being camp photographer, and I truly enjoy serving the Lord with like-minded brethren.

I am happily married to my wife Eunice, and blessed by the Lord with an adorable one-year-old daughter Joanne. All of us attend the 10.45am service together as a family. As for my job, I work as a research engineer in DSO National Laboratories, dealing with defence projects to protect our nation.

Thank God for saving me from the miry clay and even opportunities to serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I pray that Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” will remind me to be Christ-focused and not man-focused, always seeking and carrying out His perfect will during my service to Him. May the name of the Lord be magnified and glorified through my service to Him.

Verse for the Week

February 18 & 25 - Fruit of Obedience

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. John 15:10
