Testimonies from Pri 3-6 children who attended Church Camp Children’s Programme
(by June Lim)

Through this "4 days, 3 nights" camp, I learnt that the first step to serving God is serving those closest to me."Ask not what God can do for you. Ask what you can do for God." This phrase was taught by Aunty June. It reminded me that we should not ask God for what we want, which is a form of God serving us instead of us serving God. I also learnt that each and every one of us has a God-given talent, which we can use to preach God’s word to the unsaved souls. We were told the Parable of the talents which most of us have heard countless times, but this time it stays in my mind that I should not hide my talent. I truly enjoyed this camp from the start to the end. I hope to attend next year’s camp and I encourage all to join us next year! – Hannah Tan Jie Min, Pri 5

To serve or to be served, that is the question. The theme Aunty June taught us was, "Live to Serve Him". We are constantly being served, but are we serving others? We can serve at home, as service begins at home. Aunty June made us name things we could do to serve our parents, caregivers and siblings. We can also serve in church and school. Lastly, we can serve the Lord, as Joshua 24:15 says. "…. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." James 2:17-19 taught us about works versus faith. We learnt that dead faith does not save. If your faith is real, you will have a strong desire to serve God. Romans 12:11 teaches us to do the Lord’s business.

Camp was fun, interesting and enriching. I spent most of the camp (sadly) doing exam papers. But the message really spoke to me. We shouldn’t waste our life doing nothing for God; we should surrender ourself to Him. As the Chinese saying goes, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." The first step will always be the hardest. We should serve God; it is the least we can give back to Him after all He has done for us. – Prudence Lim, Pri 6.

I learnt that we were born to serve the Lord. I will preach the Gospel to others. We learnt many memory verses in the Bible. They are James 2:17-19, James 2:20, Romans 12:11, Hebrews 6:10, Psalm 100:2, Mark 16:15, Joshua 24:15 and Psalm 116:12. I want to go to next year’s church camp. – Joshua Boey, Pri 3.

God created man from the dust of the earth. He blew breath into man as a living soul. And we cannot deny him. We must always walk beside Him. We must serve the Lord, not expect the Lord to give us everything we want. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shown toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Hebrews 6:10. So I learnt that I must serve God. - John Enoch Wong, Pri 3.

I learnt how to serve in church and in school. 1) Tell the Gospel. 2) Trust in God. 3) God Offers Sinful People Everlasting Life 4) Serve Others. – Joshua Yee, Pri 4.

I learnt that Jesus Christ died on the cross and the only way to go to heaven is to believe in him and do his works. I learnt we must serve others and God – preach the Gospel. – Noah Lim, Pri 5.

I like the camp messages and songs. I learnt to serve others instead of others serving me. I also learnt about Joshua having faith in God to conquer Jericho. I like the beaches and the food. I like to play laser quest and basketball with my friends. Today I learnt James 2:17-19, Romans 12:11, Hebrews 6:10 and Psalm 100:2. I like the games: throwing ping pong ball into the cup, musical chairs, sandwich making and wrapping people in toilet paper. – Jayson Loo, Pri 4.

I have not been attending church for a long time. After this camp I should go to church every week without fail as God does everything without fail. I hope to join this camp again next year. And I hope it will be just as fun next year. – Elvis Lau, Pri 6.

I came to camp because I want to learn how to serve God and spend time with friends! I learnt how to serve at home, at play, my parents and most importantly serve God. I was born to serve the Lord. I definitely like church camp; I always do, every year. I like it because I am trained to do things faster. I mean there’s a timetable to follow, no slacking. I also enjoy the air-conditioned rooms and the great dining ambience. – Woon Yee Wern, Pri 5.

I like this church camp because I learn more about God. I learnt that we must live to serve, not be served by others. I also learnt how to MAD (Make A Difference) by showing Christian character. I also learnt that we must trust God just as Joshua did at Jericho. I remember this verse Joshua 24:15 … but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. God is very powerful. He fought for Joshua. Our Lord Jesus gave his life to save us. It is a debt of love we can never repay. God saved us from an end that we so deserve into His marvelous light, Heaven. We ought to have a mountain of gratitude to Him. In the end, everyone will have to stand before God to give an account for everything we did / did not do for him. I will want to come to the next church camp. – Hannah Koh, Pri 4.

I like this church camp because I can serve and learn more about God’s word. We learnt the theme song ‘Born to Serve the Lord’. We learnt on the first day of camp Joshua 24:15 …. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. We must obey God’s Ten commandments. This is an interesting quote "your talent is God’s gift to you, what you do with the talent is what you repay him. We will serve the Lord at home and in church. –Japheth, Pri 3.

I have learnt from Aunty June about Jesus. I learnt that Jesus died for our sins. I also learnt to serve others. Pastor Quek told us the Gospel - God Offers Sinful People Everlasting Life. I like this camp because there is lots of fun sports and computer games. I wish the next camp will be held in this place again. Koh Wen Bao, Pri 4.

I came to this church camp and I have learnt how to serve God, nice songs, have faith in God, serve my family and friends and respect each other, born to serve the Lord, obey God’s commandments, make sandwich, play games and watch movies! Aunty June, I enjoy your lessons! – Kelly, Pri 6.

In this camp, we learnt that we were born to serve and not to be served. I find this camp interesting as there are pools to swim and the hotel room is nice. Also, there are many games for us to play and a lot of activities for us to join. The teachers (Aunty June, Aunty Sow Mun, Pastor Quek) are also all very funny. The memory verses also remind us to serve the Lord. The meals in this resort are very appetizing and I hope we can come to the Bintan Lagoon Resort for church camp again. For those who have not believed in the Lord, I pray that they will come to know the Lord and go to church. – Joshua Tan, Pri 6.

I have been someone who only did household chores when my parents told me to. In these three days of camp, the main theme in the Children’s Programme was "Live to Serve Him", taught by Aunty June, Aunty Sow Mun and Rev Quek. I guess I should have initiative and do housework without being told. I learnt that we should not wait to be served, but start serving others instead.

This camp has been really fun. Lavish hotel rooms, three gigantic swimming pools, fun activities such as Table Tennis, Pool Table, etc. With my friends, it was even more fun! If asked whether I would join the camp next year, I would say "Yes" without any hesitation! Oh Yes! Food! The food was absolutely utterly scrumptious, delicious, sumptuous, finger-licking-good, awesome, etc. I had never felt so full in my life after each meal! To name a few, we had tasty vegetables, chicken with curry, beef with gravy and much more. So, all in all, this camp has been very enjoyable, and I pray that I will be able to remember the message and start serving others instead of being served. – Samuel Quek, Pri 6.

I love church camp because the lessons are awesome, the teachers are awesome, the food is awesome, the hotel is awesome! I learnt that I was born to serve the Lord! Not to be served. Aunty June said that the first step is always the hardest. My first step to serve God is to tell people not to say the Lord God’s name in vain when they do. I want to be a missionary when I grow up. I want to preach in the United States of America. When I go there, I want to have faith in the Lord God like Joshua when he wanted to conquer Jericho. And not be like my friend who says he is a Christian but lies, does not serve God and hates going to church. I will tell him not to do that. Remember you were born to serve the Lord God! – Caleb Tan, Pri 4.

I learn to serve the Lord. I learn to be a servant: serve others first. I love to serve the Lord! I love everything in this church camp. – Steven Lim, Pri 3.

I really like the camp a lot. During these three short days, I’ve really enjoyed myself playing games with my friends, singing songs of praise to the Lord

and best of all the refreshments. The messages really means a lot to me!

From the messages …..I never thought that I was so LAZY! I’ve probably never really did anything to serve my beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, and I’ve never really deeply thought about how I could serve my Lord. It’s not only my Lord, but the people around me. Jesus removed a mountain of sin in us, and we all ought to have a mountain of gratitude to him. Now I know that I was born to serve the Lord from now on, I must strive to serve the Lord like Jesus Christ. I am deeply touched by God’s action of sending his one and only son, so that everyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, he did that for us. And the least that everyone should do is serve the Lord. He owes us nothing, yet he saves us from our sins! I will try my best to serve the Lord, from now and forever more!

I would join next year’s camp as I have really enjoyed myself during these three days. But I don’t like the resort though. But I will still join for I want to attend the Children’s Worship Service and and listen to meaningful messages. I’ve really enjoyed myself, and I will come again next year! – Joy Andrea Wee, Pri 5.

I came to this camp because I want to learn more about Christ and to walk closer to God. I want to come next year as the lessons are interesting and the teachers are fun! I learnt to serve the Lord as we are soldiers in the Lord’s Army. I learnt about the Judgement Day and we must all be God’s children.

God is great and He withheld the rain for us! I learnt that GOSPEL stands for God Offers Sinful People Everlasting Life. The Christian mindset is to be a servant of God. Demons also know very well God exists and rules over all things. They tremble at God too! Dead faith does not save! If your faith is real, you will have a strong desire to serve God. Babies are unable to do anything for themselves. Young Christians are also like that. A saved Christian reaches out to the lost with the Gospel. Your talents are God’s gift to you. No one can claim to have no talent. To do so would be calling God a liar! The first step is always the hardest. —Samantha Yoong, Pri 5.

I like this church camp a lot. I learned a lot about God from this camp. I learnt to have faith and trust in God when I am in trouble like Joshua. The Great Commission must not become a great omission to preach the Gospel. God Offers Sinful People Everlasting Life. I also learnt how to serve my family and to M.A.D. (Make A Difference) in church, school and everywhere with my God-given talents. – Jotham Lim, Pri 4.
