"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ." (Colossians 3:23 & 24)

To have every child to grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ is the vision of Far Eastern Kindergarten (FEK). This is only possible when all the staff members serve God wholeheartedly. At FEK, we teach children to believe in God and to believe God.

Indeed the Lord has been very good to FEK for He is the One who gave the increase and awards. From a low of 59 in January 2009, FEK will commence the school year with 139 children in January 2013. We thank God for blessing us with the MOE-AECES Outstanding Kindergarten Innovation Award every year since its inception in 2009.

Many of the parents at FEK are thankful for our Kindergarten ministry. Below are the testimonials of some parents (both Christians and non-Christians) with children from different classes on why they chose to enrol their children at FEK. This is a worthwhile and powerful Christian ministry because "true religion is best esteemed by unconverted men when they see it in connection with the common duties of life." (Spurgeon)

Why I chose Far Eastern Kindergarten for my child(ren)

Jeslyn, Mother of Claudia Phua (3 years old)

"I’m impressed with the good curriculum and learning activities which provide a good learning environment for children to explore, learn and grow in a confident and positive way.
FEK also has a group of passionate and caring teachers. The Principal, Mrs Ang and the teachers even made an effort to remember all the children’s names which gives a very personal touch to this kindergarten. I have made the right choice as I watch Claudia grow to be more independent. She has become confident and enthusiastic in learning new things."

Diana, Mother of Tiffany Kwong (4 years old)

"We would like Tiffany to grow up and be educated in a mission school, just like my personal experience. We were introduced to FEK by a good friend, whose daughter enjoyed her kindy time very much. My friend also assured me that I would not need extra enrichment classes as FEK’s education is very well rounded.

My daughter, Tiffany enrolled in pre-nursery when she was 2½ years old. Now she is 4½ years old. She has grown from a babbling toddler to a confident bilingual child. We like the literature and project based education very much. The curriculum has given the teachers plenty of creativity zest. I think Tiffany has caught the creativity bug from her teachers. It has given me immense joy whenever she composes songs on her own as well as draws her teachers and family members. She has her own interpretation of day and night time in her drawings. We were so proud of her when she could read the Chinese readers on her own. Most importantly, we are glad that our little girl has blossomed into a confident and happy child.

We are blessed with all the dedicated teachers and workers / volunteers in FEK, who always put the children’s interest first in all the activities and education. I am so grateful to Life Bible-Presbyterian Church’s strong support towards FEK."

Parents of Jenelle See (4 years old)

"The main reason we chose FEK was the tremendous bond among everyone in the FEK’s family, including the teachers, students, helpers and principal. We had the opportunity to experience and feel for ourselves when we were invited to the School’s Anniversary celebration even before Jenelle was enrolled.

Other factors that made FEK our first choice were:

1) The developmental approach towards Early Childhood Education – from having the freedom to play in nursery to progressively adapting them to prepare for Primary One in K1 and K2.

2) A good balance between the English and Chinese classes

3) Ever approachable and patient teachers and principal"

Wei Yee, Mother of Ryan Wee (4 years old)

"We chose FEK because of the all-rounded curriculum and the warmth and enthusiastic atmosphere in the classroom. The principal greets every child by his/her name. The teachers’ love and patience has helped Ryan develop into a fun-loving and inquisitive individual. I would also like to express my gratitude to all the staff of FEK for taking such great care of him. It is really a joy to see him looking forward to go to school every morning. What a pure bliss to kick start a day so positively. Ryan absolutely adores FEK!"

Sabina, Mother of Ella (4 years old) and Davis Chang (3 years old)

"The first time I chose FEK for my eldest child, it was due purely to proximity as we were new to Singapore and didn’t know where to put our child.

Even when we moved far away and my younger ones were ready, I chose FEK again because I love the community feel of the school and the supportive staff. Everyone truly cares about what is best for the children.

I must admit I wanted a place that would give my children a Chinese immersion experience since it is important that they learn a second language. Several preschools offer this curriculum, but my priority is a school that emphasises character building and Christian values on top of academic learning – one that cares about the child in all aspects of learning not just the academic.

I know that I picked the right school because my children ask me if they can go to school on the weekend. I am glad because mornings are never a struggle to bring them to school since they can’t wait to come."

Teo Pau Lin, Mother of Noelle (5 years old) and Kate Tan (2 years old)

"Choosing a preschool for your child is quite like choosing a husband. You may have to suffer through a few unsuitable ones, but when you finally meet the right one, you just know. That was my feeling when I visited FEK for the first time. With only 4 classrooms lined up along a corridor, it felt so intimate and cosy. Children are allowed plenty of sunshine and fresh air as the playground is right outside. And the school has a team of educators who are dedicated to guiding the children towards being creative, confident and happy in the Lord. Several kindergartens I visited prior to discovering FEK were better equipped in terms of having more classrooms, teachers and facilities like sandpits, libraries, pools and canteens. But to me, FEK was the one for my child because it felt warmer, more personal, and more like home."

Patrina, Mother of Luke (2011), Lea (5 years old) & Lauren Tan (4 years old)

"I was looking for a Kindergarten that not only takes care of the academic aspects that my pre-school children needed, but also a strong religious emphasis that would set a sound foundation for my children’s spiritual growth.

FEK has not disappointed me.

My eldest son who had graduated from FEK last year, was well equipped for Primary 1 and is now doing well in school. More often than not, my 5-year-old girl now knows to turn to prayer when she encounters a situation that needs help or courage.

The programme in FEK incorporates the learning of Math, English and Mandarin in preparation of Primary school entry, and has a caring and efficient team of Principal and teachers to ensure my children leave the school with many good religious values ingrained in them for good character-building in their growing years."

Felix, Father of Christelle Wong (5 years old)

"We stumbled upon FEK when we were looking for a kindergarten for Christelle. We were very taken in with the principal’s sincerity during our introductory visit. The school’s premises were simple, yet clean, comfortable and without the ostentation which we see in other more ‘expensive’ schools. We could observe the happiness in the children and the enthusiasm in the teachers. It was a place which had a wholesome ‘Sunday School’ feeling to it. We made our decision soon after our visit. Christelle has been attending FEK for three years and we have never looked back since."

Evangeline, Mother of Ryan (2006), Andrea (2007), Evan (2009) and Deanna Chong (K2, 2012)

"When it came to choosing a pre-school for my children, my husband and I hoped and prayed that the school would not only help them grow socially and academically but also spiritually.

As a former student of FEK with very fond memories of my time in the school, it was natural for me to inquire if the school still had a space for my eldest son. Looking back, we could see the Lord’s provision for I only called on the very first day of school in 2003 and there was only 1 space left in the pre-nursery class!

Since then I have not regretted our decision to put all 4 of our children in FEK.

There are so many things I am grateful to FEK for:

1. The teachers who are so dedicated and for giving their 110% to each of the children.

2. The Principal, Mrs Ang, who takes a keen interest in each and every child and never fails to give more than we have ever expected!

3. For believing in every child and giving them equal opportunity to grow and shine. I’m grateful that FEK helped my children gain more confidence in themselves especially when performing in front of a crowd.

4. Instilling good character and Christian values in the children.

I would highly recommend FEK to all my friends!"

These testimonials serve as reminders to us of our Lord’s faithfulness and the responsibility we have towards our stakeholders. However, we need to guard our heart against the idolatry that kindergartens are most susceptible to – the size of student population and the world’s approval. It is our prayer that everyone who serves at FEK will always fear the Lord and keep His commandments. We thank God when parents like Wendy feedback to us that we are ‘old school’ because we want to uphold the Bible in word and deed.

Wendy, Mother of Rebekah Yu (3 years old)

"Hi Mrs Ang, just wanted to share this with you. Am at my living room, listening to some ABC kindergarten children practising for their year-end concert in the community centre below – Oppa Gangnam track, disco music, pop style dance moves just seem so wrong. Maybe, I’m old school but I’m so thankful for FEK’s old school ways of doing things! Character training, discipline, manners, praising and worshipping God in everything you do. Thank you so much for Noah’s Ark concert theme. Such a joy to learn some new Sunday School songs with Rebekah. Even her brother, Reuben loves putting on the CD (Every child takes home a CD with songs of the Concert as part of the Concert preparation) and singing along with her. Sigh… I regret not knowing FEK 5 years ago and depriving Reuben of the chance to be there. Thank you for your wonderful work."

May FEK always be faithful to the Lord despite the surrounding tide of change. – Mrs Ang-Oh Chui Hwa

"…but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word."Isaiah 66: 2b
