Covenant Bible-Presbyterian Church

Praise and thank God for raising up Covenant Bible-Presbyterian Church in Perth, Western Australia. On November 23rd, 2008, a group of 46 Bible-Presbyterians met together to worship the Lord. Elder Sherman Ong of Life Bible-Presbyterian Church preached God’s Word to this young congregation on that historic day.

On December 18th, 2009, this Bible-Presbyterian congregation was incorporated as Covenant Bible-Presbyterian Church. On March 14th, 2010, Rev Charles Seet, pastor of Life Bible-Presbyterian Church, was the guest speaker at the official inauguration of Covenant Bible-Presbyterian Church. Elder Sherman Ong, our “borrowed” elder, was also present on that blessed occasion.

Since the establishment of Covenant B-P Church the Lord has blessed and strengthened the church. The attendance is presently around 120. There are 30-35 children in the Sunday School and 25-30 young adults and adults attend the Adult Bible Class. There are six deacons and at our next ACM, on October 7th, 2012, Lord willing, we shall elect our first elder. Praise the Lord for the spiritual and physical growth of Covenant B-P Church. The faithful preaching and teaching of God’s Word at Covenant has helped the members to grow in Christlikeness and in service to the Lord.

We are grateful to God for raising up many willing and faithful helpers in the work. They serve in church on the Lord’s Day and attend Covenant Bible Institute classes on Wednesday evening, as well as in the various Fellowship groups: for the Juniors, Youths, Young Working Adults, Young Parents, and Adults. The Worship Service, Bible Institute class, Prayer Meeting, and Fellowship Meetings are held at the premises of Attadale Baptist Church, in the Perth suburb of Attadale. We are very thankful for the kindness and hospitality of the brethren at Attadale Baptist Church in allowing us to use their church facilities three days a week, as well as for special meetings, such as our annual Holiday Bible Club (VBS).

Covenant B-P Church’s motto is “Preaching Christ for His Glory and His Kingdom”. It is a privilege and joy to proclaim the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in Australia as well as on the mission field of Myanmar. A missions team from Covenant went to minister at the Bible Presbyterian Church of Myanmar in Yangon, December 31, 2011 – January 6, 2012. The Adult Fellowship organized a missions trip to the Village Church in Esperance, in the south western part of Australia, March 23 – 26, 2012.

Spring has begun in Perth, Western Australia. We are looking forward to the arrival of Rev Mark Chen and his wife Huimin, and their two sons Nathan and Corban, to begin their ministry here. Praise the Lord for the ordination of Mr Mark Chen at Life Bible-Presbyterian Church on September 16th, 2012. We are indeed grateful to God for providing this young pastor to shepherd the flock at Covenant Bible-Presbyterian Church when Rev Edward Paauwe retires at the end of the year 2012.

We warmly welcome Lifers to visit and fellowship with the Covenanters when you come to Perth for a holiday or to study. We welcome you especially to our annual Family Bible Conference, which will be held April 23-26, 2013, at Bayview Geographe Resort in Busselton, at the entrance to the popular Margaret River area. The Bible Conference speakers will be Rev Mark Chen and Rev Edward Paauwe. Praise and thank God for the close ties Covenant B-P Church has with Life Bible-Presbyterian Church. We deeply appreciate their faithful prayers, and the encouragement and support that we have received from our mother church. We look to the Lord for His leading and guidance in the days ahead for Covenant B-P Church to co-labour with Life B-P Church in the work of the Lord. To God be the glory, great things He has done.

— Rev Edward Paauwe, Pastor
