CORRESPONDENCE COURSE MINISTRY

A ministry of the Evangelism and Discipleship Department (EDD)

A.  Introduction

For the past decade, a small group of faithful Lifers has been conducting Bible Correspondence Courses for domestic helpers, candidates from door to door ministry, students from Student Care Centres (SCC) and referrals. These correspondence courses have helped many who are not able to attend any church to learn more about the faith in Jesus Christ. This ministry caters to the needs of all age groups in learning the new faith that they have found. Some have become Christians as a result of taking the courses and the follow-up actions of our faithful sisters.

These materials from Source of Light Ministry include Know and Grow (Book 1-3; 21 lessons), My New Life in Christ (Book 1-10; 20 lessons), The New Life in Christ (Book 1-6; 12 lessons), Basic Bible Truth   (9 lessons) and Practical Christian Living (24 lessons). Please refer to summary below.

We wish to extend these correspondence courses to church members.

B.  Courses available (samples)

1.   Know and Grow (21 lessons)

This a basic course for new believers as well as believers who have little or no prior Christian knowledge. You will discover biblical answers to many questions that you have. These include:

a.   You want to know how to receive new life in Christ.

b.   You are a new believer and want to know how to live the new life.

c.   You want to confirm your faith in Christ and learn how to live a life that is pleasing to Him.

d.   You want information to help new believers grow spiritually.

2.   My New Life in Christ (20 lessons)

This is for older teenagers and adults. It presents basic biblical truth.

a.   Who is Jesus Christ?

b.   Is the world God’s creation or by chance?

c.   God’s first man

d.   Why did Jesus Christ die?

e.   Christ is my righteousness

f.    God’s great redemption plan

g.   Christ is my victory

h.   You must be saved

3.   The New Life in Christ (12 lessons)

This is a follow up course on My New Life in Christ. This course is meant for more mature Christians.

It delves deeper into the roles of the promised Messiah. The topics include - “He is the Promised Saviour”, “The Mighty God”, “The Great Teacher”, “The Lamb of God”, “The Risen Lord”, “He is the Lord of all”, “Our intercessor,” “Our Coming King” and “Our Eternal King”.

4.   Fishers of Men

This is a three-part program in equipping disciples to evangelize unsaved souls. For those who wish to share the gospel with your friends and strangers, these are excellent materials to help you.

Jesus says, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men” (Matt 4:19).

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. (Daniel 12:2-3).

Part 1

· The definition of soul winning.

· The necessity of soul winning.

· Basic qualifications to be a soul winner.

· The place of God’s Word in soul winning.

(This includes key salvation verses that will aid you in sharing the gospel.)

Part 2

· The place of the Holy Spirit in soul winning.

· The soul winner’s task.

· How to carry out the task?

(Most believers are worried about the risks of rejection and know not what to share in the first encounter with strangers. Here the writer shares that the role of conversion is 100% the responsibility of God the Holy Spirit. God enables us as agents to share the gospel. Jesus says, “…without me you can do nothing” John 15:5).

Part 3

· Follow-up in soul winning

· Conclusion

(This part explains the importance of follow-up action on new believers.)
