EMMANUEL REFORMED BIBLE LECTURES

The Emmanuel Reformed Bible Lectures (ERBL) is a joint project of several like-minded Bible-Presbyterian Churches in Singapore designed to help equip Christians for God’s service through Bible-based, Reformed theological teaching.

The lectures are conducted 3 nights each week in Beulah House which has been recently built at 10 Gilstead Road by Life Bible-Presbyterian Church. This is centrally located at an easily accessible part of Singapore near to Newton MRT station.

July to November 2010

Mondays: Scriptural Insights from the Pastoral Epistles by Rev Dr Jack Sin, M.Div, D.Min (Pastor of Maranatha Bible-Presbyterian Church)
Monday, 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
THIS COURSE is a basic introduction to 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus, commonly referred to as The Pastoral Epistles. It identifies the crucial and practical church based concerns from church governance to the qualification of church officers and the purpose, priorities, problems and perils of the pastoral ministry from Paul’s inspired letters to Timothy and Titus. Participants will be guided through a detailed expository analysis of these 3 pastoral letters and practical insights into the current issues and ministries of the local church will be discussed and addressed. Participants (including lay people ) are encouraged to study them diligently and apply the biblical theology of the 3 books into the life of the church and their respective ministries (2 CREDITS)

Wednesdays: The Book of Esther by Rev Charles Seet, B.Th, M.Div (Pastor of Life Bible-Presbyterian Church)
Wednesday, 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
THIS COURSE is an in-depth study of the book of Esther, including its historical background, literary characteristics, theological values, and introductory issues, highlighting the doctrine of Divine Providence. (2 CREDITS)

Thursdays: The Book of Romans by Rev Ho Chee Lai, M.Div (Asst Pastor of Sharon Bible-Presbyterian Church)
Thursday, 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
THIS COURSE is a verse by verse study of Paul’s letter to the Romans with its emphasis on righteousness. The key doctrine of sin (Ch 1-3), justification (3-5), sanctification (6-8) will be covered, as well as God’s programme for Israel (9-11), and Paul’s practical exhortation (12-16).(2 CREDITS)

THE COURSES are open to the public. No minimum educational requirement is needed. However those who are interested in working toward a Certificate in Biblical Studies (20 credit hours) must have a minimum of 5 GCE ‘O’ level passes or its equivalent.

THE REGISTRATION FORM should be completed and submitted with a course fee of $20 per course for audit and $30 for credit to the Life B-P Church Office at 10 Gilstead Road, Singapore 309064. An ‘Early Bird Discount’ of $5 will be given to those who register before 14 June 2010. Cheques should be crossed and made payable to “Life B-P Church” Please write your name and the words “ERBL fees” on the reverse side of the cheque.

IF A COURSE IS DROPPED, the fees will be refunded only if the Life B-P Church Office is notified within 14 days of its commencement.

ATTENDANCE will be taken at each lecture. Certificates of Attendance will be issued to students who have achieved at least 80% attendance.
