The Gospel Explained
In the Beginning...
In the beginning, God created man in His image and after His likeness
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26
God and man had a perfect relationship with each other. Man was given the free will to choose.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:16,17
Man Disobeyed God
Man chose to disobey God’s command.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Genesis 3:6
Sin Separates Man from God
As a result of man’s sin, he is separated from God. He will face death, physically and spiritually.
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:2
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27
Finding Our Way Back to God
Man tried to find his way back to God. We try to be good, religious, charitable, moral, educated or do all kinds of good works. But none can bring us back to God.
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12
God’s Remedy
God loves the world. He acted out His love for us to save us from our sin by giving His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to us.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Jesus is the Only Way
God’s only begotten Son is Jesus. He came to live a perfect righteous life for us because He is God and is sinless. He became a perfect sacrifice for us. Instead of us being punished for our sins, Jesus was punished for us on the cruel cross. We are saved by Jesus’ life and death. On the third day, He rose again from the grave to prove that He is God and our Saviour. He lives forever.
Therefore, He is the only way, the truth and the life. No ones go to heaven but through Him.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
Repent and Be Saved
We are to repent or turn away from our sins and believe that Jesus’ precious blood can wash away our sins.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
We need to take the step of faith to believe in Jesus Christ.
We need to confess our sins and receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.
Believing in Christ also means trusting what He says in the Bible is true.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9
Through Jesus, our relationship with God is restored. We have everlasting life in Jesus when we accept Christ as our Saviour and Lord and we will be in Heaven when we close our eyes to this world.
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
Heaven will be a glorious place.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4
All who trusted in Jesus Christ will not be condemned. They will not spend their eternity in hell whereby there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 8:12
