The Men’s Ministry (MM) was formed in 2016 to reach out to all men in our church — to prepare them to work, lead, protect, and steward His creation (Gen 2:15). The objectives of the MM are:

1. To build Christian men to be godly and faithful disciples of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (2 Tim 2:2)
2. To train men to fulfil their calling and mandate as husbands, workers, fathers, friends, and servants. (Gen 2:15)
3. To provide an opportunity for Christian men of all ages to share Christian fellowship, experiences, and mutual edification. (Prov 27:17)

To help Christian men perform their responsibilities, we anchor ourselves on a strong foundation in God’s Word. Bible Study (BS) sessions are held fortnightly — virtual via Zoom on Friday evenings, and in‑person at Beulah Room 2‑1 on Saturday afternoons. Each BS session is led by a Bible Study Leader (BSL) who begins with a chapter overview, theme, and key points, followed by breakout discussion groups. These smaller groups encourage members to share insights, ask questions, and apply the passage together for mutual encouragement and spiritual growth.

The Men’s Ministry (MM) has been meeting fortnightly to study the pastoral letters of 1 & 2 Timothy. These letters, written by Paul the Apostle to his young co-worker Timothy, provide timeless instruction for Christian leaders and believers who desire to live faithfully for Christ.

Through our study, the men have been encouraged to pursue godly character in daily life. In 1 Timothy, Paul reminds believers to train ourselves for godliness: “Exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” (1 Tim 4:7–8). This has prompted meaningful discussions on how men can cultivate spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Scripture reading and faithful service amidst the pressures of work, family and responsibilities.

The study has also challenged us to be examples of Christian integrity. Paul exhorts Timothy, “Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” (1 Tim 4:12). For many of the men, this has led to practical reflection on how our words, attitudes and actions influence our families, colleagues and fellow church members. This resonates with the mandate seen in Gen 2:15, where man is entrusted to faithfully steward his responsibilities. The men have been encouraged to live purposefully, honouring God in both public and private life.

Another key theme from 2 Timothy is standing firm in the truth of God’s Word. Paul reminds Timothy that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Tim 3:16–17). In an age where many voices compete for our attention, the men have been reminded that God’s Word remains the ultimate guide for faith and life; and His Word is sufficient to equip us for every good work.

Finally, Paul’s charge to Timothy: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.” (2 Tim 4:2) has encouraged us to live with courage and conviction, faithfully bearing witness to Christ wherever God has placed us.

Our prayer is that through the study of these letters, God will continue to shape us into men who pursue godliness, uphold truth and lead with humility for the glory of Christ and the good of His church.

Thankful Reflections & Prayerful Outlook 
Beyond our regular Bible study sessions, the MM also organises fellowship gatherings and seminars with invited speakers to deepen our understanding of God’s Word and its application in daily living. In addition, we hold outings and activities such as retreats, farm visits and nature walks to strengthen bonds and cultivate brotherhood among the brethren. These are the key activities in the past year:

• BIBLE STUDY LEADERS’ RETREAT: The Bible Study Leaders’ Retreat held in Ipoh, Malaysia from 1–3 May was a purposeful and enriching time of learning and preparation. It provided a structured and focused review of Bible study tools, strengthening teaching readiness for the upcoming study series. The retreat also deepened fellowship and unity among the brethren through shared meals featuring Ipoh’s renowned local cuisine and a heritage walk through the charming old town.
  
• MM ANNIVERSARY MEETING: The ministry celebrated its 9th Anniversary with a message by Eld Chin Hoong Chor titled “Knowing God in Prophetic Times (Ezra 5–6).” Testimonies and a time of fellowship dinner affirmed God’s sustaining grace over the ministry. The message reminded us that God strengthens obedience, provides abundantly and restores joyful worship as His sovereign purpose prevails. We were also encouraged by Bro Tiong Chin’s testimony; and Bro Simon Ko’s thanksgiving Cantonese rendition of “The Lily of the Valley”.
• CHRISTMAS FELLOWSHIP: Jointly organised by the Ladies Fellowship (LF) and MM, the evening opened with a devotion on service by Eld Terence, after the example of Mary & Martha. This was followed by ice-breakers and engaging games that created a lively atmosphere, encouraging interaction and strengthening connections among participants. The event also served as an outreach opportunity to non-believers and young believers. It concluded with joyful carol singing and a warm dinner fellowship, as we came together to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
• COMBINED YLM-MM-LF FELLOWSHIP SEMINAR: The 2nd edition of the combined fellowship seminar with the Young Lifers’ Ministry (YLM) & LF began with an ice-breaker, Fellowship Bingo, followed by a message by Rev Lee Hann Yang on “Serving Christ who is All and in All (Col 3:1–4:6).” The message was a timely reminder for us to put off the old self and put on the new – clothed in love, rooted in Christ and living with an eternal perspective as we serve Him and reflect His grace to others. The evening concluded with warm fellowship over dinner. We hope these combined meetings will bring different groups together, fostering unity and mutual respect within the Christian community, as each group contributes unique experiences and insights to support one another in our spiritual growth.
  
   
  We give thanks for God’s faithfulness and the many blessings the MM has received over the years, especially for the gift of brotherhood in Christ and the opportunity to grow together as godly men. Looking ahead, we will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary and embarking on a new bible study series on the Book of Judges in the coming months.

The Men’s Ministry seeks to build one another up in faith, strengthen our bonds as brothers in Christ, and grow together as faithful and godly disciples.
