All of One
Life B-P Church Worship Service, 9th February 2025
Text: Hebrews 2:11-18
- The wonder of God’s mercy as expressed in Christ’s willingness to identify Himself with and take to Himself sinners as His brethren (v.11)
- Christ and His people are “all of one” in the divine plan of redemption
- Christ and His people are “all of one” in the eternal covenant of grace
- Christ and His people are “all of one” as to the nature of Christ with the sanctified
- Christ and His people are “all of one” because of Christ’s representative character
- Christ and His people are “all of one” as Christ is united with the sanctified in interest.
- The wonder of God’s mercy is proven in the unity of Christ and His chosen people through the finished cross-work of Christ
- Christ takes delight in that “He is not ashamed to call them brethren.”
- Christ is to appear with His children - “Behold I and the children which God hath given me” (v.13)
Reflection:
Verse 17-18 speak of how believers have a merciful and faithful High Priest. Both of these descriptions of our High Priest are needed. If Christ were not merciful, sinners could have no confidence in coming to God. If Christ were not faithful, believers would not have a continued boldness to come before God.
