Text: Hebrews 4:14-16 

I. Jesus Secures this Privilege for Us (v.14)

1. He is our Great High Priest
   1. He is unlike the Old Testament High Priest
   2. He has entered into heaven and sat at the right hand of God
2. He is the Son of God
   1. He finished the work of salvation for us
   2. He is our Mediator (1 Tim. 2:5)

II. Jesus Sympathizes with Us (v. 15)

1. He is touched (feel the pain jointly together with us) with the feeling of our infirmities.
2. He is tempted in all points (every kind or every major field of temptation)
3. He is without sin (no latent sin in Him).

III. Jesus Succours Us (v. 16)

1. Succour means run to rescue or bring an aid
2. We come before His throne of grace and not justice.
3. We come before His throne of grace with confidence.
4. We will receive His mercy and grace in times of need (cf. Heb. 2:17-18)

1. How does the fact that Jesus has passed through the heavens change your perspective on and approaching God?
2. In what ways do you see Jesus as able to sympathize with our weaknesses?
