Young Teens Department

The Young Teens department is specially catered for 13 to 16 yrs olds. It is also staffed by mature Christians who are committed to teach about Jesus Christ and His Word because the scriptures are able to make one wise unto salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. 2 Tim 3:15.

Sunday School has blessed many many lives, myself included. If one were to ask how I came to Christ, I would undoubtedly attribute it to my SS teacher Sister Molly who told me that Jesus loves me very much when I was at a young tender age of around 6-8. In that story lesson she taught, Jesus’ disciples rebuked some people who had brought children to Jesus that he might put his hands on them and pray for them. Jesus however said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands on them, and blessed them.” Mark 10:13-16. In this lesson, it is clear that children are so precious in the eyes of Jesus. He truly loves children as can be seen in how he took them up in his arms and blessed them. Another lesson we see is how special children are in their simple childlike faith that they place in Him. Jesus even says that whosoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall not enter therein. We therefore learn that salvation is open to both young and old. It is not only available to adults who are developed in their minds through education and experiences but Jesus also saves the young in their ‘innocence’. In fact the older one grows the more obstacles one places before himself to simply believe that Jesus is the Son of God who can save you.

While the Young Teens Department is for children who are already in their teens, it is still an important age for they are still inquisitive and teachable. To study Gods Word is truly the best thing that parents can provide for their children because “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Tim 3:16-17.

In our classes, our teens are taught the bible systematically covering basic bible truths that take us through both the New and Old Testaments. This helps them to understand the Doctrines of Creation, of Man, of Sin, of Christ, of Grace and the Redemptive plan of God. Apart from just head knowledge, our teachers’ prayer is that each individual teen will come to know Christ, to develop a personal relationship with Him and to grow in faith is Christ.

Come and join us! May I challenge you to embark on a wonderful time each Sunday morning to study and to discover the Love that God has for you. We meet at 9:40am Beulah house level 2. There is a class for every age year from 13 to 16. May parents partner our Sunday School in this journey of Sanctification. There are classes for parents to attend in the Adults department at 9:40am.
