God’s Word in Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Our Teachers in the Young Teens department are called to put in their best efforts to teach the Word of God and to mentor their class of teenagers.
Psalm 119:9-12 KJV
[9] Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. [10] With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. [11] Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. [12] Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes. The above passage from the Psalms directs young people to the Word of God to receive guidance and instruction. It also challenges the individual to will his or her own heart to seek after God and his Word. Not just to study the Word for intellectual knowledge but to memorise and internalise it for application and obedience unto Godly living. Finally, the passage teaches us to highly revere the Creator God, by turning away from sin and to bless and worship God. This is the aim of the Young Teens department.
Our syllabus for Sec 1-4 is a systematic study of the whole bible as well as topical studies that are relevant especially to teenagers. The Secondary 1 class will spend most of the year studying the character and life of Christ. The Secondary 2 class will study Creation and Fall of man, the Abrahamic and Mosaic Covenant and the Promise of the line of David. Secondary 3 class will study lessons from the early church namely from the books of Acts, Galatians, Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Corinthians and Romans. Secondary 4 class will study themes from the Old Testament ranging from Genesis to Malachi. At the end of these four years, it is envisaged that each student would have acquired a sound understanding of God’s Redemption plan, but more importantly apart from intellectual knowledge, our prayer for each teenager is for them to know Christ as his or her Redeemer and Lord. And thereby to live a godly Christian life in obedience to God’s will, a Christian youth zealous of good works to the praise of God’s glory. 2 Tim 3:16-17
Our Sunday School online classes at the time of writing are planned for 11am via Zoom. Kindly message or call me at 92975560 for more information on how to participate.
